Business Angels are private investors who provide capital for both start-up and more established businesses seeking to expand or reach the next phase of their development. Unlike venture capitalists, business angels usually invest their own funds and are not necessarily sector-specific when seeking new opportunities
Most importantly, Business Angels often bring more to the table than simply money by providing their expertise, experience and in many instances their contacts to a company. They have usually had success in executive positions or as an entrepreneur or as current or former business owners themselves, so can offer advice on business management and strategy.
By participating within a business, Business Angels can play an active role in the direction and success of their investment by doing what it takes to ensure that success. Rather than seeking ownership of the company, Business Angels use their expertise to mentor management and act as a valued sounding board when what may appear to be daunting business decisions need addressing.
It is important to note that the Business Catalyst Club Limited does not provide or offer investment advice to individual investors, their associated groups or to individual businesses seeking investment. We strongly advise that you seek appropriate professional advise whilst negotiating any potential deal. If you do not have appropriate professional advisors we are able to provide introductions to a number of suitable companies on our deal maker panel.
Before receiving business plans or making angel investments, you need to ensure that you are self-certified as either a High Net Worth or Sophisticated Investor, as defined by the FCA under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (FSMA).
